Developed by Marshall McLuhan and his son Eric in the ‘70s, the Laws of
the Media represent McLuhan’s attempt to create a series of scientific
statements about media. Also known as the Tetrads, the Laws of the
Media are made up of four testable statements about the effect of
any media or technology developed by man. McLuhan explored these
ideas in several essays and in a book: Marshall McLuhan with Eric
McLuhan. Laws of Media: The New Science . Toronto: University of
Toronto Press, 1988.
